Old Forester announces the latest release in its acclaimed 117 Series: Prohibition Era Still Proof. This limited-edition expression pays homage to the brand’s past as one of the few distilleries legally permitted to produce whiskey for medicinal purposes during Prohibition.

Bottled at 130 proof, this special release is a nod to the historical fact that Old Forester was distilled at 130 proof during the 100-day distiller’s holiday a few years prior to the repeal of Prohibition. During the 1930s, a select group of government-authorized distillers — including Old Forester — were granted licenses to replenish whiskey stocks for medicinal use.

“This release is a tribute to the ingenuity that allowed Old Forester to endure and emerge stronger during one of the most challenging periods for American whiskey,” said Caleb Trigo, Assistant Master Distillery of Old Forester. “This bourbon offers a glimpse into the intensity and authenticity of our Prohibition heritage.”

The release coincided with Repeal Day (Dec. 5), the date marking the end of Prohibition in 1933, when the 21st Amendment restored Americans’ right to enjoy bourbon once again.

Old Forester 117 Series: Prohibition Era Still Proof is available in limited quantities for $64.99.

Maker’s Mark has announced it will be the first Official Spirits Partner of Unrivaled, the athlete-founded and player-owned women’s basketball league.

As part of the partnership, Unrivaled ticketholders will have the chance to engage with the whiskey brand experiences in select hospitality spaces and enjoy specialty cocktails inspired by the league. At Maimi’s Sephora Arena, the whiseky brand will take over their new VIP Loge Box. At select games, Maker’s Mark will also be part of Unrivaled’s pre-game Fan Fest experience outside the arena.

Maker’s Mark will also appear in-arena through displays with broadcast-visible signage. Thirty-second commercial spots will run on media partners including TNT and truTV throughout the regular season and playoffs, featuring the new Perfectly Unreasonable global campaign, which celebrates the idea that going to unreasonable lengths—in life and in bourbon—is what separates good from remarkable.

“What Maker’s Mark has done throughout its renowned history is exactly what Unrivaled aims to do, which is carving our own path to create something better, and leaning into unreasonable ideas instead of shying away from them,” said Napheesa Collier, Unrivaled Co-Founder. “That’s what makes Maker’s Mark a perfect fit as our first Official Spirits Partner. We’re grateful for their support in our continued pursuit of making the unreasonable a reality for women’s basketball.”

This is Maker’s Mark’s first-ever sports league sponsorship. “Maker’s Mark founders – my grandparents – broke with tradition to reimagine what bourbon could be—a perfectly unreasonable spirit that endures today,” said Rob Samuels, eighth generation whisky maker and Managing Director at Maker’s Mark. “Beginning with co-founders Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, Unrivaled shares that same spirit, and we’re delighted to shine a light on their community of players who prioritize passion and purpose on and off court.”

This announcement comes ahead of Unrivaled’s 2026 sophomore season, tipping off Jan. 5 in Miami. Building on a breakthrough inaugural year, the league returns featuring two new clubs, a redesigned arena with expanded fan sections, and their first-ever tour stop in Philadelphia.

Willett Distillery has released its newest expression, the Willett Family Estate Small Batch Bourbon.

The small batch release is a marriage of two distinct mashbills (72% Corn, 13% Rye, 15% Barley and 52% Corn, 38% Rye, 10% Barley), selected and blended to create a bourbon of remarkable depth and character.

Each batch is composed of around 50 barrels, distilled at a barrel entry proof of 125, and is bottled at cask strength which will vary by batch.

Crafted under the guidance of Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen, this release continues the vision of his late father, Even G. Kulsveen, whose leadership and dedication helped shape Willett Distillery.

“Willett Family Estate Small Batch Bourbon represents the next step in our family’s journey,” said Drew Kulsveen, Master Distiller at Willett. ““From our family’s Thanksgiving table to yours, our values of gratitude, grit, and hospitality are intentionally poured into every barrel and every single bottle we put on the table. It’s important to celebrate those we hold most dear over a shared pour, while remembering our most favorite stories about those who aren’t at the table.”

The Willett Family Estate Small Batch Bourbon will be released in limited quantities nationwide.

Hardin’s Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has just launched its Warehouse Series, which highlights how changes to an aging environment during maturation in the warehouse shapes the whiskey.

This limited-edition launch is a three-part collection consisting of Warehouse R (“Mushroom”), Warehouse W (“Beaver”) and Warehouse G (“Owl”).

Warehouse R “The Mushroom” was housed in a  rare single-story warehouse with no windows, cool and dark like the forest floor inhabiting mushrooms. Warehouse W “The Beaver” was in a five-story, nearly century-old rickhouse enveloped in the humidity of its damp, creekside location. Warehouse G “The Owl” | comes from a towering nine-story structure, one of the few of its kind still standing. Each expression is 110 proof.

“The Warehouse Series embodies the spirit of exploration that defines Hardin’s Creek – experimentation, discovery, and storytelling,” said Freddie Noe, Eighth Generation Master Distiller, James B. Beam Distilling Co. “By holding every variable constant except the warehouse itself, we’re able to demonstrate the unique impact maturation environments have on the spirit.”

To tell the story of the Warehouse Series, Hardin Creek partnered with surrealist artist Max Loeffler to create a new brand identity. Each bottle depicts a symbolic character tied to its warehouse environment. The designs help tell the story behind the whiskey with symbols illustrated throughout, offering hints of warehouse location, campus, proof and age statement.

Hardin’s Creek Warehouse Series is available now for $149.99 each.

Sespe Creek Distillery has release just released Warbringer Southwest Bourbon Batch 22.

This allocated expression marks the Oxnard, California distillery’s first release since hiring Master Distiller John Campbell, who formerly held the same role at Laphroaig. In keeping with Sespe Creek’s library of smoked whiskeys, Batch 22 is made with a mash bill of mesquite-smoked Bloody Butcher heirloom corn, roasted corn and malted rye.

“The main aim for Batch 22 was to increase the mouthfeel and the way it engaged with the drinker’s palate, and to beef up the flavors at the back end of the taste experience,” said Sespe Creek Distillery Master Distiller John Campbell. “To do this we introduced some of the oldest bourbon we have on site, added some red corn bourbon to the recipe and some experimental sour mash bourbon to improve the overall balance of the liquid for the consumer.”

Warbringer Southwest Bourbon Batch 22 is available now Texas, Tennessee and Washington as well as direct-to-consumer at warbringerbourbon.com for $55.

For the seventh edition of Widow Jane Distillery’s The Vaults, the Brooklyn-based distillery went Mediterranean.

This year’s expression was aged a minimum of 15 years before being finished in casks are made from oak harvested from the ancient forests surrounding Amfilochia, a city on the coast of Greece. The wood used in the finishing barrel assembly is air-seasoned for 1-2 years and imparts notes of wild honey, mountain sage, and dried fig.

“Each edition of The Vaults is a thrilling experience for me,” said Widow Jane Head Distiller Sienna Jevremov. “It affords me the opportunity to explore the enigmatic flavors of our older whiskey stocks and to craft a composition woven together into something entirely new. For 2025, I chose Greek oak as the finishing wood having been inspired by my many journeys to the region. Walking among its landscapes, the aromas have lingered with me ever since—haunting me in the most delightful way.”

Added Widow Jane Vice President Michele Clark, “This year, we turned to mythological oak, a gift from one of the world’s most fertile and storied landscapes. Nurtured by the Mediterranean sun and sea, these ancient oaks embody the essence of their terroir. In choosing them, we sought not only to honor tradition but to forge new ground—creating a spirit of uncommon depth, layered with rare complexity, and worthy of its timeless origins.”

The Vaults is the Widow Jane’s annual limited release of the old and rare bourbon from the distillery’s reserves that has been finished in casks made from unique and elevated woods.

Widow Jane The Vaults 2025 (99 proof) is available for $249.99.

1792 Bourbon has introduced its Cognac Cask Finish, the first cask-finished expression in its permanent portfolio.

The latest release from 1792 transfers Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey from charred American White Oak barrels into hand-selected ex-Cognac casks for its final maturation. These barrels are placed on the top floors of the rickhouses, where rising heat intensifies aging and interaction with the wood. After resting for a minimum of six months in Cognac casks, the bourbon is bottled at 95 proof.

“We’ve experimented with a range of premium cask finishes, but Cognac immediately stood out for how naturally it complements our Small Batch Bourbon,” says Ross Cornelissen, Barton 1792 Master Distiller. “Extended finishing in Cognac casks reveals dessert-like notes and layered complexity, while showcasing the full-bodied character of the Small Batch Bourbon and its signature high-rye recipe.”

The distillery’s journey into barrel finishes began with 1792 Port Cask Finish. This experience set the stage for this expression, which builds on Barton 1792’s tradition, using the same mashbill, fermentation, and distillation process as 1792 Small Batch Bourbon.

“1792 Cognac Cask Finish represents a new flavor chapter in this brand’s story,” says Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director, 1792 Whiskey. “We’re pleased to offer a whiskey that invites both new and experienced spirits fans to enjoy premium cask-finished bourbon. It’s already becoming a favorite among bourbon connoisseurs.”

1792 Cognac Cask Finish is available now for $37.99.
