Widow Jane Distillery has released its Decadence Bourbon, the annual release of the brand’s small batch bourbon finished in American Oak Barrels that previously held Upstate New York’s Crown Maple artisan maple syrup at 91 proof.

“Decadence was crafted for the season when crisp air and longer nights invite us to slow down and enjoy life’s richer moments. Its velvety, indulgent flavor profile is a natural fit for this time of year, when gatherings grow cozier and we treat ourselves to something special. Decadence is meant to be savored in those moments of celebration,” says Susan Wahl, Vice President of American Whiskey for Heaven Hill Brands.

Widow Jane Decadence Bourbon is available for $99.99.

It’s that time of the year again. Every year, Goose Island Beer Co. releases its Bourbon County Brand Stout line to honor their legacy as the creator of the world’s first bourbon barrel-aged stout. Each variant that follows offers a unique expression, using different ingredients and barrels to highlight the complexity of the beer.

This year, the Bourbon County Brand release tells a story of “metamorphosis—where barrels, time, and innovation evolve” the beer bottled. Its Cherries Jubilee Stout, finished in cognac casks, and Chocolate Praline Stout, aged in single-use bourbon barrels, show how time and additions deepen character. The Proprietor’s Stout, inspired by Baklava, includes toasted pistachios, walnuts and cinnamon to highlight the nuttiness.

This year also spotlights the barrels themselves, with collaborations that strengthen the bond between beer and whiskey. The Double Barrel Stout blends two sets of Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond barrels while the Reserve Stout, aged in 17th edition Parker’s Heritage 10-year-old rye whiskey barrels, pays homage to whiskey tradition.

The 2025 Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Family includes Original Stout, Cherries Jubilee Stout, Chocolate Praline Stout, Proprietor’s Stout, Double Barrel Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Stout andParker’s Heritage Reserve Stout.

For the first time, Goose Island is also debuting 10 oz. four-pack bottles of Bourbon County Brand Original Stout.

Labor Day is right around the corner, which means Fall is on the way. To celebrate the new season, Heaven Hill Distillery will be releasing The Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Fall Edition.

According to The Spirits Business, the newest edition is made with barrels laid down in October 2008 and bottled this month. The Fall Edition is bottled in an ornate decanter with a black label, which will remain consistent across all autumn releases.

The expression is part of a limited edition series that will see whiskeys released each spring and autumn for the next five years. The Old Fitzgerald autumn variant follows the launch of an 11-year-old whiskey last February.

Across the series, each bottle’s tax strip will provide information on when the liquid was produced and bottled, as the brand endeavours to be “transparent” about its products.

Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Fall Edition will be available later this year for $90.

Parker’s Heritage Collection Bourbon Sweetens Up For ALS Research https://thewhiskeylifestyle.com/parkers-heritage-collection-bourbon-sweetens-up-for-als-research/ Wed, 08 Aug 2018 04:47:54 +0000 http://www.thewhiskeylifestyle.com/?p=3547 Bourbon hunters know that the Fall is when the big releases happen and Heaven Hill Distillery already has…

Bourbon hunters know that the Fall is when the big releases happen and Heaven Hill Distillery already has collectors marking their calendars.

They recently announced the 2018 limited-edition release of Parker’s Heritage Collection Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, due this September. Finished in orange curaçao barrels, the 12th edition, like some of its predecessors, will benefit ALS research.

After aging for seven-to-eight years in the upper floors of Rickhouse Q, the bourbon is then finished for four months in barrels that previously held French orange curaçao liqueur.  “The orange curaçao finish lends a unique flavor that complements the Bourbon without overpowering it, creating an entirely new and elegant tasting experience,” the company says.

The late Heaven Hill Master Distiller Parker Beam, for whom the series is named, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2010. The past five editions from 2013-2017 — the “Promise of Hope” Bourbon, the “Original Batch” Straight Wheat Whiskey, the Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey, the 24-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, and the 11-Year-Old Single Barrel — have raised over $1 million toward ALS research and patient care through contributions made by Heaven Hill for each bottle purchased. Heaven Hill will continue with this cause-related campaign with the 2018 bottle.

The 2018 Parker’s Heritage Collection retails for a suggested price of $89.99 per bottle and will be available in a three-bottle case.

Parker’s Heritage Collection was originally conceived to showcase the range of Heaven Hill’s American Whiskey holdings, as Heaven Hill boasts the world’s second largest inventory of aging American Whiskey. This is the second finished offering in 12 years of the annual series — the seventh iteration was a Cognac-finished Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
