Templeton Distillery has just unveiled its inaugural rye whiskey, a Single Barrel release.

Bottled at barrel proof, this expression is crafted from a 95% rye, 5% malted barley mash bill and matured in charred new American oak barrels at the Iowa distillery.

Once only bottling sourced whiskey, Templeton’s evolution to crafting its own distillate from grain to glass began when the distillery opened its doors nearly eight years ago. Now, that vision reaches its fruition with the first rye barrels that were laid down, now produced as this inaugural Single Barrel release.

“We’re proud to introduce Templeton Single Barrel Rye – a whiskey crafted for our fans and connoisseurs alike,” said Shane Fitzharris, Senior Vice President, Global Commercial at Infinium Spirits. “This release embodies our spirit of innovation while honoring our rich heritage, setting a new benchmark for excellence in American whiskey. Every pour offers a rare and remarkable expression of character and craft – no two barrels alike, each with its own distinct personality and complexity.”

Templeton Single Barrel is now available for $49.99.

Templeton Distillery unveils its 13-Year-Old Rye Whiskey, the first release from its Hidden Stash collection.

The expression is a tribute to the history of the distillery. Crafted from sourced rye distillate and drawn from Templeton’s aged barrel inventory, Templeton 13-Year-Old is made from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It is matured in new American oak barrels with a heavy char and bottled at 108 proof.

“The launch of the 13-Year-Old marks a milestone in our aging program, a hidden treasure drawn from some of our finest sourced stocks,” said Shane Fitzharris, Senior Vice President, Global Commercial at Infinium Spirits. “With elevated packaging and some of the rarest, most refined whiskey we’ve released to date, this limited edition highlights Templeton’s commitment to crafting whiskeys that honor our history while reinforcing our position in the premium rye category.”

Since the opening of the Templeton Distillery in 2018, the brand has expanded beyond its flagship rye, developing a combination of sourced and in-house distillates. Recent launches such as Fortitude Bourbon underscore Templeton’s evolution into a full-fledged distiller, while Hidden Stash will highlight the oldest sourced stocks in its warehouses.

Templeton 13-Year-Old Rye Whiskey is now available $169.99.

Templeton Distillery is sweetening things with the debut of its inaugural Fortitude Bourbon. This occasion signifies a milestone as the distillery unveils its first bourbon release and maiden distillate from the Iowa distillery.

The launch of Templeton Fortitude Bourbon marks the distillery’s pivotal evolution from independent bottler to distiller. The 92 proof non-chill filtered bourbon features a mash bill consisting of 55% corn, 40% rye, and 5% malted barley. It’s born from locally sourced corn and cultivated in collaboration with local farms within 15 miles of the distillery.

“It’s thrilling to be part of this historic moment for the Templeton Distillery and the incredible community of Templeton, Iowa,” said Shane Fitzharris, Senior Vice President of Commercial at Infinium Spirits. “We are very excited to bring our distillery’s inaugural distillate to the world and showcase the innovation and craft that we have at Templeton Distillery through this fantastic Bourbon release.”

Templeton Fortitude Bourbon’s aroma combines delicate floral and grassy notes, accompanied by hints of spice, black pepper, sweet Vanilla, and the subtle fruitiness of lemon peels. Rich, full flavors of rye and spice are harmoniously blended with butterscotch and wonderful zesty citrus, followed by an enduring warm finish of spicy oak notes and caramel popcorn.

Templeton Distillery, located on 20 acres in Templeton, Iowa, has the capacity to distill all styles of American Whiskey and an annual production exceeding 3 million bottles. The 34,500 sq ft world-class distillery employs 30 locals and is a testament to the town’s values, embodying a strong sense of community. Beyond its role as a distillery, Templeton’s facility also serves as a visitor center and museum with a bottling plant facility on site and two 54,000 sq. ft maturation and barrel warehouses.

Templeton Fortitude Bourbon retails for $39.99.

Templeton Distillery has recently announced the launch of the Templeton Distillery Entrepreneur’s Grant program, which will award three small businesses $10,000 each. The grants are designed to help ignite the spark of these budding companies, just like early producers in the small town of Templeton, Iowa were inspired by the idea to craft what was commonly known as “Templeton Rye” over 100 years ago.

Winners of the grants will be selected by a panel of a few of Iowa natives, including actors Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”, “Legends Of Tomorrow”) and Hill Harper (“The Good Doctor”). Rounding out the remainder of the panel are Templeton Distillery’s co-founder Keith Kerkhoff as well as the founders of local Iowa-based businesses, Crème Cupcake + Dessert’s Christina Moffatt and BLK & Bold Specialty Beverage’s Pernell Cezar and Rod Johnson. The period to apply will run from now through July 11, with winners announced in August.

All US-based businesses are invited to apply for the Templeton Distillery Entrepreneur’s Grant, excluding those that sell alcohol or are owned by anyone under the age of 21. To enter, businesses will submit 250 words about why they should be considered. Entries will be judged on originality (40%), contributions to the local community (40%), and business viability (20%).

“Ignited by the spark of a simple idea, early producers in the small town of Templeton, Iowa began crafting what was commonly known as ‘Templeton Rye’ at the turn of the 20th century,” said Templeton Distillery Co-founder Keith Kerkhoff. “Now looking to the future as Templeton Distillery, we could not think of a better way to honor this heritage than by supporting small businesses with a little help from some Iowa greats. Also, we are thrilled to introduce an even more premium offering for the fans of Templeton to enjoy when they want to sip something a bit more special.”

The launch of the grant program is timed alongside the debut of Templeton’s new 10 Year Reserve Rye Whiskey, complete with a refreshed look. The newest addition to the core line is the Templeton Rye 10 Year Reserve, with each release bottled from a hand-selected single barrel. The whiskey is aged a full decade in charred new American oak barrels. Every good revival has a way of bringing history into the now, so the new 10 Year Reserve along with the 4 and 6 Year, will be featured in refreshed packaging (see below).

Templeton Rye 10 Year Reserve is now available for $85.
